Brief Description:  Flight #7, Flt test #4, Slow flight, 48 minutes

Installed a "Reserve Lift Indicator" (RLI) sensor and Manostar 500Pa (2" wc) differential gauge. The sensor is mounted on the lower left wing forward inspection cover. It is at about a 50 degrees angle from the lower skin. The sensor mounting turned out to be about the correct angle. During slow flight, at about the approach speed, the needle was at the lower end of the yellow zone. I still have to do stall tests so will need to see where in the red zone that happens.

Did slow flight tests today. Straight/level, 360 turns left/right, with/without flaps. I was still flying with flaps when the airspeed indicator was below 40 mph. With no flaps I was as slow as 45 mph indicated at about 3000 feet. OAT was 17.7c (64F), or a density altitude of about 4200 ft. Was going to do some airspeed calibrations today but it was too bumpy to get smooth airspeed runs.

The engine ran well. If runs smoothest when the mixture is leaned as necessary. Today was lot of maneuvering so didn't get to optimize it. Fuel consumption for the 48 minute tach time was about 2.4 gallons. TGW 851#.
